Setting New Standards for the Work-at-Height Industry
Jean du Randt, General Manager at Eazi Access Rental, is setting new standards in the work-at-height industry through his recent appointment as Chairman of the Mobile Elevated Work Platform (MEWP) Chamber for the Institute of Work at Height (IWH).
Du Randt says that his role as Chairman of the MEWP Chamber motivates him further to reach the ultimate goal: ensuring safe working conditions and promoting collective learning within the industry. This is particularly relevant as the MEWP Chamber is currently focused on developing acceptable and practical training standards.
The IWH aims to be the unified voice for all work-at-height activities in South Africa. Since its establishment in 2009, its mission has been to uphold best practices, policies, and standards set by the trade association and regulated by the professional body.
As Chairman of the IWH constitutional committee, Du Randt and his team have restructured the organisation to ensure resilience, establishing robust parameters for effective governance. This new structure supports efficient decision-making and agile execution of mandates.
Du Randt emphasizes, “Our success is directly related to our collective passion for the industry. Meeting specific industry standards in every work-at-height scenario is essential, as human life is irreplaceable. My aim is to promote, encourage, and uphold safety and training principles across the industry.”
