Annah Matshaba from Eazi Access on finding her niche
Annah Matshaba initially aspired to a career in aeronautics as a pilot or aeronautical engineer. However, her natural talent for accounting was noticed by KPMG, which offered to fund her studies to become a CA(SA). Today, she is the Financial Manager of Eazi Access and feels she has truly found her calling in finance.
Founded in 2003, Eazi Access is a South African-owned leader in work-at-height and material-handling solutions. Annah works closely with CFO David Chadinha, whom she considers a mentor. “David has shown me that ‘impossible’ is just a word in the dictionary,” Annah says. His proactive leadership, especially during challenges like Covid-19, has inspired her to seek efficient solutions and lead with resilience. She has gained valuable insights from David in accounting, tax compliance, and team-building.
Aiming for the CFO Role
Annah envisions a future as a CFO and is actively preparing herself for that role through continued learning and mentorship. While she enjoys her role as Financial Manager, her interactions with colleagues and stakeholders are the most fulfilling aspect of her job. “I love sharing ideas, learning new things, and providing solutions that are financially optimal,” she shares.
Currently, Annah and David are focusing on change management within Eazi Access’s finance team, promoting transparency, breaking down departmental silos, and reducing reporting times to facilitate faster, informed decision-making. They are also implementing a new Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system, a project that keeps her engaged and excited about the future.
Professional Principles
Annah believes in continuous self-development and innovation to adapt to an evolving world. She also prioritises employee well-being and workplace ethics, considering them non-negotiable for success. Understanding the demands of her field, Annah values a healthy work-life balance. Outside of work, she enjoys reading and travelling, appreciating the experience of new cultures and places.
