Eazi Access Partnership Elevates Table Bay Mall
The construction of Table Bay Mall, a vast 65,000 m² retail space along Cape Town’s R27, required a robust fleet and an innovative approach to meet tight deadlines. Eazi Access, with its comprehensive range of machines and skilled operators, was an essential partner in this project, working alongside Group 5, the main contractor.
Tailored Equipment Solutions
Tony Chandler, Cape Regional Manager for Eazi Access, highlights the benefit of an early collaboration with Group 5, allowing Eazi Access to propose various Mobile Elevated Working Platforms (MEWPs), telehandlers, and Maeda crawler cranes for the project. Notably, the Maeda crawler cranes were used for the first time on a construction project like this in South Africa. Their agility and strength met load-bearing requirements, making them ideal for lifting structural beams and casting concrete columns on the mall’s upper levels.
Scale and Efficiency
To handle the project’s large scale, Eazi Access deployed over 90 machines, including 7m and 9m electric scissor lifts, operators, and on-site support. The company provided continuous diesel refills, maintenance, and safety training for operators, ensuring a seamless operation. The commitment to safety and round-the-clock support enabled the team to maintain productivity and meet the project’s timelines.
Innovative Techniques
Eazi Access’s deployment of the Maeda crawler cranes and Magni telehandlers not only enhanced productivity but also improved site safety and cost-efficiency. Chandler emphasised Eazi Access’s commitment to exploring new methods tailored to project demands, saying, “Our tailor-made solutions go beyond conventional approaches. We are always seeking innovative ways to complete projects effectively and safely.”
This project underscored Eazi Access’s position as a leader in material-handling and work-at-height solutions, showcasing their ability to tackle complex projects with flexibility, advanced equipment, and a proactive approach to customer needs.
