Lifts in Innovation
Eazi Access has introduced the first Magni HTH 30.12 telehandler into its rental fleet, marking a significant addition with a 30 t lifting capacity, making it the biggest machine in Eazi’s lineup. After demonstrations across multiple applications, it has now been deployed at a mine in Mpumalanga, South Africa, where it’s using Magni’s innovative Cylinder Clamp attachment for the first time on a job site.
John Maddern, Eazi Access’s Commercial Manager, notes that the telehandler was demonstrated at several mines before the Mpumalanga deployment. Here, Magni’s Cylinder Clamp attachment is being used to remove and fit cylinders on large-scale face shovels. Previously, scaffolding, cranes, and rigging teams were necessary, taking up to 48 hours to complete these tasks. Now, with the 30 t Magni HTH 30.12 and Cylinder Clamp attachment, the process is reduced to just 35 minutes.
Proven Demand for Rental
Following the successful implementation, demand for the Magni HTH 30.12 telehandler has risen. Maddern and Steve Hasselbach, Witbank Branch Manager, anticipate increased rental interest, particularly from mines where uptime is critical. For example, a face shovel down due to a cylinder burst can mean production losses worth R25 000 per truck load, translating into substantial revenue loss.
In addition to the Cylinder Clamp, Eazi Access has equipped the telehandler at the Mpumalanga site with other attachments like the Tyre Clamp, Conveyor Belt Handler, and Forks, enabling it to handle tyre rotation, conveyor belt handling, and general material handling when the Cylinder Clamp isn’t in use.
Versatile Attachments for Enhanced Performance
Magni’s attachments cover a wide range of applications:
** • Tyre Clamps:** Can handle tyres from 24 to 63 inches, with 16 t and 8 t capacities for various models.
• Multi Tool Manipulator: Compatible with the Wheel Hub Handler, Cylinder Clamp, and Hub with Suspension Cylinder Handler, allowing up to 22 t handling capacity.
The Cylinder Clamp attachment specifically features 11 t capacity, 250-620 mm opening measurements, 344° clamp rotation, and a ± 30° cylinder rotation, enabling complex tasks in tight spaces.
Hasselbach highlights the tyre handling attachment’s versatility, noting its 360° rotation, side-shift capabilities, and performance over rough terrain, which is essential for mining environments.
Advanced Cab and Operator Comfort
The Magni HTH 30.12 telehandler boasts operator-focused features:
• **Adjustable steering column** for easy access.
• **Multifunction joysticks** connected via CAN BUS for turret, boom, and accessory movements.
• **Fully enclosed, airtight cab**, pressurised and equipped with air filtration to ISO 10263 standards, hot/cold air conditioning, and air recycling options.
The cab’s touchscreen display groups controls, enhancing usability with easy-to-read messages instead of complex codes. Magni’s RFID system further optimises safety and performance by automatically recognising the attachment in use.
